The story
Lohmayr Stub'n in Bad Reichenhall runs a Bavarian kitchen at Salzburger Straße 13 in Piding, and the Michelin Bib Gourmand it received in 2026 recognizes its good quality, good value cooking.
The kitchen refines alpine regional dishes, with influences from neighboring Austria. Now and then it draws on French classical technique or flavors from the Far East. Sauces are deliberately robust, meant to underline each dish without covering it.
Crispy farmer's duck is served with red cabbage and potato dumplings, and the Wiener Schnitzel is made from veal saddle. Braised veal cheeks come in a cabernet reduction, while zander fillet sits on pan-fried vegetables. A vegetarian menu features taglierini in truffle cream.
The Schlemmer Atlas, which awards 2 Kochlöffel, describes cozy Bavarian rooms in a traditional inn near the Austrian border. Guests can choose between several set menus, including a Schmankerlmenü, a Feinschmeckermenü and a vegetarian menu. The team is hospitable and knows its wines and dishes well.
