The story
Stern's Restaurant at Linggplatz 11 in Bad Hersfeld cooks a seasonal country kitchen and earned one Michelin star in 2026. The room sits inside the der Stern hotel, where many locals still call it the "gute Stube" of Hersfeld.
The menus lean on regional produce with an international reach, and the cooking draws on French and Mediterranean technique. The Schlemmer Atlas awards it 3.5 Kochlöffel and notes menus of up to seven courses. Scallop, wild boar and Wagyu beef appear among the dishes it describes.
Wood paneling, rustic benches and a wood-burning stove give the room its warmth. In good weather the restaurant opens toward the Linggplatz square, so guests can sit outside. The hotel also keeps a vaulted wine cellar, which it describes as about 1000 years old.
