The story
Brauereigasthof Aying, at Zornedinger Straße 2 in Aying, Germany, is a Bavarian kitchen that earned 3 Kochlöffel in the Schlemmer Atlas for 2026. The inn pairs country cooking with its own brewery and hunting grounds, a combination that defines the table here.
Lamb, beef and game come from the family's own hunting grounds and are prepared fresh in the kitchen. The mineral water comes from the property's own well, and the on-site brewery supplies the beer. The Michelin Guide listed the house as Recommended in 2026.
Two-person plates appear on the current menu. Loup de mer is baked in a salt crust and served with parsley potatoes, pine nut spinach, caramelised fenchel and beurre blanc. A tomahawk steak comes with truffle fries, bacon cabbage salad and béarnaise. Both must be ordered 48 hours ahead. Each year the house also runs its Ayinger Fischwoche, now in its 39th edition, with fish menus over ten days.
The property was first mentioned in 1385 and has been in the Inselkammer family since around 1810, now in its seventh generation. The Ayinger brewery dates to 1878. In the garden, plants divide the terrace into small corners, a fountain runs quietly, and a covered Salettl with a rose-hung roof keeps guests dry when it rains.
