The story
Renoir, at Schönheider Straße 235 in Auerbach, cooks classic French cuisine with a seasonal menu, and the Schlemmer Atlas gave it 2 Kochlöffel in 2026.
Ulf König runs the kitchen, which offers a seasonal five-course menu alongside an à la carte selection. The restaurant describes its cooking as mainly classic French and international. Guests can sit in the dining room, in the bay window or in a private booth. The Michelin Guide also lists Renoir as a recommended address for 2026.
The five-course menu opens with rolls of rosy veal tenderloin, served with wasabi cream and a small Waldorf salad. A mango, coconut and curry soup with lobster ravioli follows. The main course is grilled saddle of lamb with Barolo jus, confit cherry tomatoes, ratatouille and beluga lentils. A small selection of French raw-milk cheeses comes next, then Bourbon vanilla panna cotta with tonka bean and baked apple compote. The menu dated March 2026 lists five courses at €82, four at €72 and three at €62.
German and French bottles are the focus of the list, within a mostly European cellar. Saxon growers such as Schloss Proschwitz and Klaus Zimmerling appear alongside Nahe Rieslings and a long run of Burgundy. The team will advise on pairings. A wine flight pours 0.1 l with each course, from €22 for three courses to €37 for five.
