The story
Ai Pero, at Schafbachstr. 20-24 in Andernach, is an Italian trattoria that received a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026 for good-quality, good-value cooking. The kitchen pairs homemade pasta and wood-fired pizza with regional Italian dishes, and the restaurant belongs to the PURS Fine Hotels & Restaurants group.
Benedict Schulz leads the kitchen as chef. His path started at Cookies Cream in Berlin before he turned to Italian flavours. He describes the menu as a route from the Mediterranean coast to the Alps, mixing classic dishes with regional specialities from Italy.
The Schlemmer Atlas awarded Ai Pero 2.5 Kochlöffel in 2026, praising the homemade pasta and pizza. Pizzaiolo Neritan Ara works the wood-fired oven, which is visible behind glass in the dining room. A four-course menu is available for a longer meal.
Low-hanging lamps give the room a stylish, modern feel. The Enoteca wine bar pours Italian wines from several regions, from Tuscan reds to Veneto whites. A daily Italian breakfast buffet is served in the morning.
