The story
das asam in Aldersbach, at Freiherr-von-Aretin-Platz 2, holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026. The Bavarian and Mediterranean kitchen works from the former monastery grounds, with a restaurant, a daytime tavern and two gardens.
Josef Kapser trained in Vilsbiburg, then worked under Denis Feix and later in Munich, including at the Käfer-Schänke. Anna Kapser also learned her trade with Feix and cooked at the Munich restaurant Les Deux before the couple opened their own place. The menu is described as modern in spirit, with familiar classics reworked. It changes roughly every six weeks to follow the seasons.
The restaurant sits in the Modlersäle, once the abbots' dining hall. By day the Klosterschänke serves lunch, coffee and Brotzeit in a more rustic setting. The Schlemmer Atlas gave das asam 2.5 Kochlöffel in 2026 and singled out its atmosphere in these historic premises.
When the weather allows, meals move outside to the monastery courtyard or the green Kreuzgarten. The terrace is also in use. The kitchen is closed Tuesday and Wednesday, and on Sunday it serves through the afternoon.
