The story
La Bouitte, at Hameau de St. Marcel in Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, is an Alpine French restaurant that holds two Michelin stars for 2026. The restaurant René & Maxime Meilleur sits inside a family-run hotel in Savoie, and its menus draw on the valley's produce and traditional recipes.
René and Maxime Meilleur are self-taught cooks, and the kitchen is their shared signature. Their cooking is described as finely shaped and subtle, with the occasional playful touch. The house also works to sort waste and cut food waste, and the Smart Green Guide awards it two radishes for 2026.
The hotel has eight rooms and seven suites, with old wooden beams, thick fabrics, antique furniture and family portraits on the walls. Many windows face the peaks. The spa, La Bèla Vya, takes its cue from the natural and cultural heritage of Savoie.
Simple & Meilleur serves traditional Savoyard dishes and emblematic local recipes in a mountain bistro on the hill above the village. A wine cellar bar and small plates make it a looser way to eat in the same house, open every day except Monday.
