The story
Café Bras at Jardin du Foirail in Rodez is a bistro where Michel Bras writes a creative, Aveyron-minded menu. The Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended for 2026. Its kitchen mixes modern cuisine with Japanese accents.
The space covers 500 square meters and seats close to a hundred guests in two distinct areas. At the counter, the carte draws on dishes tied to the identity of the Aveyron, and you can eat without a reservation. The restaurant side is for sitting down properly, and the venue also offers outdoor seating and a private room.
Chef Christophe Chaillou cooks here, and the menu has recently carried a miso condiment and a dashi kinoko jelly beside certain dishes. A dessert with Japanese flavors followed. These touches nod to the museum's Hiroshi Sugimoto exhibition. Le Fooding also lists the address for 2026.
Lunch can start with an aperitif such as a ratafia or a local gentian. Then comes a starter, followed by poultry or meat cooked to order, or a fish only just firmed. Some days the choice is a slow stew instead.
