The story

Benoit Paris: Classic French Bistro Cooking on Rue Saint Martin

Benoit is a classic French bistro at 20 Rue Saint Martin in Paris, listed as Michelin Recommended in 2026. The restaurant dates to 1912, when a butcher named Benoit Matray bought it and gave it his name.

Chef Kelly Jolivet's bistro cooking

Kelly Jolivet became chef of Benoit in January 2022, at just 28. She started at Louis XV in Monaco as a first commis and later worked as sous-chef at Ducasse sur Seine. In Paris she keeps the bistro repertoire intact and adds a touch of creativity, so the old dishes taste current.

Dishes and wine on the table

The menu draws on the bistro canon: pâté en croûte, snails in their shells, boudin noir with veal sweetbreads, then profiteroles or savarin to finish. The wine list covers glasses, pichets and bottles from Beaujolais, Burgundy and the Rhône Valley. Ask for the Georges Duboeuf pouilly-fuissé by the magnum.
