Celebrated table

Les Bouteilles

A Michelin Recommended wine bar, bistro and caviste on rue de Bel-Air in Nantes, with small plates built around a deep wine list and a pig-themed dining room.

The story

Les Bouteilles, Nantes: Wine Bar and Bistro on Rue de Bel-Air

Les Bouteilles is a wine bar and bistro at 11 rue de Bel-Air in Nantes, listed as Recommended in the Michelin Guide for 2026. For 25 years it has worked as restaurant, wine bar and wine shop under one roof.

Small plates and market cooking

The kitchen describes its style as elaborate tapas and traditional cooking, and it is meant to serve the wine. Le Fooding, which also listed the address in 2026, singled out the owner Michael Ravier's market dishes. These include Tuscan charcuterie from Casa Porciatti (salamino, capocollo, pancetta, finocchiona) and Vendée lamb chops in an herb crust with new potatoes. For dessert there is a raspberry millefeuille with Tahitian vanilla chiboust cream.

The wine list

Glasses run from €3.50 to €15, so a bottle is not required. The listings Le Fooding picked out include a Collioure from Domaine de La Rectorie and a Muscadet from Jérôme Bretaudeau. Because Les Bouteilles is also a caviste, you can buy bottles to take home, and the team will suggest food pairings.

The room

Paintings of pigs and wine bottles line the dining room, which gives the place its slightly rowdy, convivial look. There is a terrace for warmer days, and a private room for groups. The wine bar side takes no reservations, so you can simply walk in.

History

On the record

Le Fooding — Listed

This tavern is perfect for a Bacchic feast, as paintings of pigs and bottles of wine surround the dining room like an army. On the agenda for these sparring matches: no bloodshed, of course, but well-made market dishes by the owner Michael Ravier: charcuterie from Casa Porciatti in Tuscany (salamino, capocollo, pancetta, finocchiona… €15); honorable lamb chops from the Vendée in an herb crust, with new potatoes and haricots verts from Jean Luc Gauthier (€19.50); a cheese plate from Régis Lecoq (€6.50) or a raspberry millefeuille from Damien Rio at the nearby market in Talensac, with Tahitian vanilla chiboust cream (€6.50). And because the main reason we came was for the wine, be sure not to retreat before taking a few shots at the wine collection. Amongst the 700 labels you’ll find: a Collioure from the Domaine de La Rectorie (€7.50 a glass), Les Perriêres, a Muscadet from Jérôme Bretaudeau (€27 a bottle) or a very sunny Solen from the Domaine Les Aurelles (€49 a bottle). À la carte €36-41. // A.Be.
