The story
Anecdote is a bistro in Montreuil, France, at 1 rue des Juifs, and it holds a Michelin Recommended distinction (2026). Its menu is inspired by the card Roland Gauthier wrote when he opened La Grenouillère in March 1979.
Alexandre Gauthier revives those forgotten recipes, working with a team led by Samuel Pesquet, Juliette Carlu and Virginie Fournier. The bistro kitchen cooks from memory rather than from a modern script. Dishes on the card include fried squid with gribiche sauce, and a côte à l'os grilled over embers for two. Le Fooding named the restaurant its most praiseworthy spot in 2016.
The dining room sits on the place de l'église inside the Hôtel Hermitage, once a military hospital in Montreuil-sur-Mer. Architect Patrick Bouchain designed the interior. A terrace opens from the first day of spring to the last day of autumn, and the restaurant can be booked privately for groups and large tables.
