The story
Holding a Michelin star for 2026, La Robe serves modern cuisine at 2 rue Neuve in Montaigu, France. The dining room opens onto the moat that once guarded the old town, and the kitchen works mostly with produce from nearby growers.
Chef Xavier Giraudet grows some ingredients in the restaurant's own gardens and buys the rest from producers close by. Honey, truffles, asparagus and poultry come from the surrounding land. Fish from the coast, such as turbot, skate wings, tuna and lobster, appears through the seasons. Vegetarian dishes feature on the menus, and the restaurant says the local sourcing gives them their quality.
The main room is warm and cosy, suited to a slow, relaxed meal. In fine weather, guests can sit outdoors under a pergola. An eight-cover salon offers an intimate setting for a gastronomic dinner, and a private room seats up to sixteen for company or family events. Both spaces need to be reserved in advance.
Sommelier Alexis has built a cellar that covers the main appellations, with several prestige bottles alongside it. He also features small producers, revived local terroirs and rarely blended or forgotten grape varieties. The by-the-glass selection changes regularly, so guests can try something new with each course.
