The story
Marah is a seafood restaurant at 13 Rue du Cordouan in La Rochelle, listed by Le Fooding in 2026.
Léa Viano (formerly of Qui plume la lune) and Louis Robergeau (formerly of Mirazur and Virtus) left Paris to open here. Seasonal fish leads the cooking, and Le Fooding notes it is often dry-aged first. The kitchen aims to serve only line-caught fish, with meat from local farms and organic or reasoned-farming produce.
The owners renovated the wine-colored room themselves, pairing stainless steel with exposed stone. Cooks plate and present their own dishes, so kitchen and dining room nearly merge. The name comes from Marie, a nod to the founders' grandmothers, and means both love and bitterness.
