The story
Café Enez, on Place des Halles in Douarnenez, runs a seasonal Breton café kitchen that Le Fooding named Best neighborhood café in 2025. The room opens early for coffee and stays open into the evening for small plates and larger dishes.
Chef Mahaut Le Lagadec took over the former café Le Poullig, facing the covered market. Most ingredients come from producers who set up there three times a week, so the menu shifts with the seasons. Local charcuterie, cheeses and vegetables change with what the stalls bring in.
Coffee comes from the Sable roastery in Crozon. Breakfast brings buttered tartines with homemade jam, fresh cheese with granola, and eggs cooked to order. At lunch, a starter and main is served alongside a main-only option, and there is always a vegetarian dish on the menu.
