The story
La Petite Maison de Cucuron, on Place de l'Étang in Cucuron, serves classic cuisine built on Provençal produce and holds one Michelin star for 2026. The restaurant occupies a nineteenth-century village house beside the pond in the southern Luberon.
Éric Sapet took over the house in 2007 and has led its kitchen since. He spent nine years in Parisian kitchens before moving to the Relais & Châteaux La Cardinale in Ardèche, where his cooking became looser and more personal. At Cucuron he works with the market, drawing on Provençal roots while keeping each ingredient recognisable on the plate.
The historic dining room upstairs has old wood panelling and seven tables. In warmer months, tables are set under the plane trees facing the pond, and a wisteria-covered tonnelle offers shade. A small private salon suits quieter, more discreet meals.
A wine is suggested with each course, and Sapet is an enthusiast who knows the growers of the region well. The pairings are meant to start conversation rather than follow a formula. The We're Smart Green Guide also awards the house two radishes for 2026.
