The story
Comptoir central des bazars is a bistro at 9 Rue Lecoq in Clermont-Ferrand, France, and Le Fooding listed it in 2026. Harry Lester, who earlier ran the Saint Eutrope bistro that Le Guide Fooding named Best Bistro of the Year in 2015, runs the place.
The menu stays deliberately short. Lunch is a single rotating weekly menu, while apéro hour brings shared plates such as spicy eggs mayo, vitello tonnato and mortadella pizzettes. One lunch service featured slow-roasted, flash-seared leg of lamb served with tabouleh, crisp broad beans, radishes and fresh herbs.
Food runs through the day, so you can order a croque-monsieur at breakfast or an ice cream later on. The ice cream flavours are unusual, including milk and cereal, Korean mulberry leaf and fig leaf. The room suits a quick counter stop as much as a longer glass of wine.
