The story
D'Amore by Italo Bassi is an Italian restaurant at 51 quai Jérôme-Comparetti in Bonifacio, France, and holds one Michelin star in the 2026 guide. The kitchen draws on Italian and Mediterranean produce, with a menu that moves from cured meats and crudo to handmade pasta, run by chef Italo Bassi and executive chef Edoardo Menna.
Italo Bassi was born in Fusignano, in the province of Ravenna, and his home region shapes his cooking. He joined the team at Enoteca Pinchiorri at 19 and returned there as head chef, where he held three Michelin stars from 2003 to 2015. In 2023 he and Edoardo Menna moved to Bonifacio to lead D'Amore and its sister restaurant Finestra.
The card leans on Italian staples: charcuterie, focaccia and raw fish crudo. Spaghetti alla chitarra comes with a light pecorino cream and fresh truffle, while ravioli del plin are served with ricotta and a carbonara sabayon. Gnocchetti cacio e pepe are paired with prawn carpaccio and trout roe. Desserts follow Italian custom, with tiramisu and a mille-feuille of panettone.
The architecture studio Gardera-Pastre reworked the space with an elegant, warm feel that recalls Italian chic. The concept takes its inspiration from the Italian Riviera, and the view of the Bonifacio harbour sets the mood. Outdoor seating and air conditioning are both available.
