The story
Ezkia, at 6 avenue de la Grande-Plage in Bidart, is a modern French restaurant recommended by Michelin in 2026. The kitchen works with seasonal, organic produce from producers, breeders and fishermen close to the Basque coast.
Marine Poughon and Olivier Henry, who both trained at Guérard in Eugénie-les-Bains, run the restaurant. Their Basque cooking depends on careful sourcing: fish from Saint-Jean-de-Luz, vegetables from the Bastelica family and poultry from Maison Garat. Le Fooding's lunch review described a five-course menu with a poached oyster over sunchoke purée, flash-seared mackerel on red onion confit, and wild sea bream with gnocchi in lemon sauce. The meal ended with a baba au rhum, served with blood orange sorbet.
The dining room occupies the former L'Antre, and the owners kept its Basque red façade, exposed stone walls and padded banquettes. A semi-open kitchen sits within view of the tables. The restaurant also offers a terrace and can be booked for private events.
