The story

Shang Shi Tallinn: Cantonese and Chinese Dining Beneath 15th-Century Painted Ceilings

Shang Shi in Tallinn serves Cantonese and Chinese dishes at Rataskaevu 5, and Wine Spectator named it a 2025 Best of Award of Excellence winner. The name means "Royal Feast," and the kitchen is built around that idea of a dish shared among the whole table.

The room beneath painted ceilings

The main room sits under 15th-century hand-painted ceilings. A private dining room with its own painted ceiling seats up to eight guests. Bespoke menus are available there, with some of the kitchen's most elaborate dishes prepared tableside.

Lounge, cocktails and the wine list

The lounge is the place for pre-dinner drinks and cocktails, with a curated à la carte selection and music later in the evening. It runs on open seating, so no reservation is needed there. The wine list is one of the restaurant's listed strengths, and dinner is served from its own menu.
