The story
Tač, at Vrhovec 140 in Zagreb, is a traditional Croatian kitchen on one of the city's hills, and Gault&Millau awarded it 17 points for 2026. The restaurant has been run by the Miletić family for more than twenty years, with Vesna Miletić in the kitchen.
Vesna Miletić prepares traditional dishes from ingredients that arrive every day. Fresh fish, live scampi and lobster come from long-standing suppliers, and the menu also draws on aged meat, young lamb from the island of Pag, Black Slavonian pig and Istrian Boškarin. Vegetables are grown at home and follow the season, so wild asparagus appears in early spring and porcini in autumn. The Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026 recognises good quality cooking at good value.
The steak tartare is finely chopped and well seasoned, served with toasted bread, though one reviewer preferred the bread rolls and buns. Roasted suckling pig has soft meat under a crisp crust, and the breaded chicken comes with bizi-rizi, rice with green peas. The John Dory is grilled with care, and the Swiss chard keeps its bright green colour. Dessert options include apple strudel and cremeschnitte, a kind of millefeuille.
The terrace is part of the room's appeal, and the furniture is largely antique pieces that Vesna has collected over the years. Tihomir Miletić, known as Tač, selects the wines, with a focus on Croatian and Slovenian bottles that suit the cooking. Much of the menu is made in-house, including a homemade pâté and bread baked in the restaurant's own oven.
