The story
K.užina is a Mediterranean restaurant at Ul. Kraj Svete Marije 1 in central Split, Croatia, a short walk from the main square. The Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026 recognises its good quality, good value cooking, and Gault&Millau has awarded it two toques this year.
Chef Toni Boban runs the kitchen with a creative approach that pairs traditional Dalmatian flavours with newer combinations. The menu leans on seasonal and local produce, drawing on the home cooking of the owners' grandmothers and grandfathers, from the sea and from the land. Dishes are built around freshness and clear, layered flavour.
Fish is where the kitchen is strongest. The greater amberjack with lemon is the dish reviewers single out. Dessert is handled with the same care, and the cake by pastry chef Antonija Nikolić is presented to please the eye as much as the palate. Menu descriptions are brief, so guests are invited to ask the waiter about options for children. A tasting menu is offered, and the menu is available in both English and Croatian.
The interior is contemporary and intimate. In warmer months, the terrace is the draw: it sits between the walls of old houses on a small piazzetta, which suits unhurried lunches and summer dinners. Service is described as professional and friendly, and prices sit in the medium-high range, in line with the cooking.
