The story
Korak is a contemporary Croatian restaurant in Samobor, at 34 Plešivica, 10450 Jastrebarsko, awarded one Michelin Star in 2026. It belongs to a family wine estate on the Plešivica slopes, and the kitchen draws on the same land as the cellar.
Bernard Korak won the Gault&Millau Young Talent of the Year trophy in 2021. His approach mirrors the family's winemaking: minimal intervention, maximum expression. Ingredients come from the estate's own cultivation or from chosen local producers, and the menu follows the rhythm of the seasons. Gault&Millau scored the restaurant 16.5 in 2026.
There is no à la carte. Guests choose between five and eight courses, with wine or non-alcoholic pairings. Dinner opens with sourdough and hand-churned butter wrapped in beeswax, plus homemade cheese, dry-cured ham and old-bread crisps. Later plates include a scampi bisque with caviar and kumquat, a ragout of local snails with wild herb pesto, and dry-aged venison fillet with quince, buttermilk and horseradish. Three dessert courses close the meal.
The family home and farmhouse date from 1900 and were fully renovated in 2019. Today the fourth and fifth generations run the winery, the restaurant and a conference room under one roof. Service is discreet and professional, and the restaurant works by reservation only.
