The story
Agli Amici Rovinj is a modern Italian restaurant at Šetalište Vijeća Europe 1-2 in Rovinj, Croatia, and it holds two Michelin stars for 2026. The dining room sits inside the Grand Park Hotel Rovinj, beside the seafront promenade that runs down to the marina.
Emanuele Scarello cooks Italian technique with the produce of the Istrian coast and interior. The restaurant offers two seven-course tasting menus: Rovinj, built on seafood, and Istria, built on meat and vegetables. Gault&Millau gave the restaurant 17.5 for 2026, and the kitchen's aim is sophisticated simplicity rather than complexity for its own sake.
The Rovinj menu opens with Under the Sea, a scallop carpaccio served on seawater with beurre blanc and coral. Golden cuttlefish arrives with citrus and pepper, gold leaf, and a cocoa bean tartare with garum and aloe vera. On the Istria menu, aubergine is grilled into ravioli and finished with horseradish, black truffle and hazelnuts, while boškarin comes with mustard, almonds and figs. Dessert is a crème brûlée flavoured with tonka bean and served with carrot and ginger sorbet.
The interior is modern and light, and the spacious terrace looks out over the harbour and the islet of St Catherine. The atmosphere is intimate without being formal, and the service is described as professional and attentive.
The menus are priced at €210 per person, and every table must take part in the tasting menu. Wine pairing costs €95 per person, the sommelier's choice is €190 for six glasses or €140 for four, and a no and low alcohol pairing is €65 per person. The wine list draws on Croatian regions and foreign estates.
