The story
Konoba Pescaria, at Stari Grad 28 in Mošćenička Draga, Lovran, is a Croatian seafood tavern that earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026 for good quality cooking at good value. The kitchen cooks what the boats bring in, so the menu shifts with the catch.
The menu depends on daily cooperation with local fishermen, and wild and farmed fish both appear, always labeled as such. Grilled scorpionfish is a standout: juicy, precisely cooked, and tasting of the fish itself. Kvarner scampi arrives in many forms, from modern raw preparations to classic recipes. The house pasta with shrimp has a creamy, velvety sauce.
The terrace looks over the boats and the sea, while the dining room sits inside the old town's stone walls. Owner Antoan Hrelja built the tavern on a local fishing tradition and its "from boat to table" idea, a approach Gault&Millau rated 11.5 for 2026. The wine list leans on Istrian bottles, and a Pinot Gris pairs well with the fish.
