The story
Plum Garden is a Huaiyang restaurant in Nanjing, on the second floor of the Jinling Hotel at 2 Hanzhong Road in Gulou. The Michelin Guide recommended it in 2026, and the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide awarded it one diamond the same year. The kitchen cooks in the Huaiyang tradition, and the wine list is distinctive enough to be a reason to visit on its own.
The Jinling chefs build on Huaiyang cooking and add culinary innovation, producing a set of classic dishes they call "Jinling dishes." The stated aim is flavour that is fresh and light without being bland, and rich and mellow without masking the natural taste of the ingredients. The menu is the clearest expression of that approach.
The restaurant takes its name from the plum blossom, the city flower of Nanjing. Openwork carvings and mahogany partitions frame the dining space, and plum motifs appear throughout the decoration, giving the room a distinctly Oriental character. The room is air-conditioned, and parking is available for guests.
