The story
Canoe occupies the 54th floor of the TD Bank Tower at 66 Wellington Street West, Toronto, where the contemporary Canadian kitchen holds a Four-Star rating from Forbes Travel Guide for 2026. The cooking follows the seasons and draws on producers from across the country, and the dining room is set up for a long dinner with a view.
Executive chef Ron McKinlay brings more than a decade of cooking in the U.K., Australia and the Middle East to the kitchen. Roderick Tomiczek, the chef de cuisine, trained in London under Marcus Wareing and Heston Blumenthal before returning to Canada. His cooking pairs classical French technique with a focus on the ingredient itself.
The Taste Canoe tasting menu runs Monday to Friday evenings at $170 per person, or $125 more with wine pairings. Courses change with the season. Past menus have included smoked mussel with pickled radish, asparagus with caviar and coddled egg, and B.C. halibut with scallop mousse and favas. The lunch menu is shorter, with steak frites and pommes frites finished with truffle mayo.
Floor-to-ceiling windows look out over Lake Ontario and the city, and the décor draws on natural materials: bundled wood chandeliers, moss-covered wall art and copper accents. Guests seated at the Chef's Rail watch the open kitchen during the tasting menu. The wine list highlights Canadian winemakers alongside a selection of international bottles.
