The story
Restaurant La Chronique, at 104 Avenue Laurier Ouest in Montréal, serves modern French cooking and holds a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026. The kitchen works from a single tasting menu, and the wine pairings are a large part of the evening.
Marc De Canck and Olivier de Montigny are the chef-owners. Their Menu Signature is a set sequence of courses served with wine, priced at 150$ or 250$ depending on the pairing. A cheese course can be added for 20$. The wine list earned a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence in 2024, and the pairings draw on French, Portuguese and Québec bottles.
The meal opens with Quebec lobster, green asparagus and an américaine sauce. Atlantic halibut comes with leeks and beurre blanc, and duck foie gras with red cabbage and blueberries follows. Quebec Limousin beef arrives with musquée squash and a truffled jus. A late-harvest wine from a Québec vineyard accompanies the sweet course, and mignardises close the menu.
Guests can dine in the main room or in the Salon Laurier. The restaurant also takes group bookings and private events at lunch or in the evening. For these, the chefs design a menu around the occasion. A 20% service charge applies to parties of six or more.
