The story
sEb l'Artisan Culinaire is at 444 Rue St.-Georges in Mont-Tremblant, where the kitchen serves modern French cooking and holds a 2026 Michelin Recommended distinction. The restaurant has operated in the downtown core since 2005, and its menus change with the seasons, built largely on local agriculture.
Chef Sébastien Houle builds each plate around a close balance between ingredients. His cooking draws on travels across five continents, so flavours from elsewhere appear inside a French framework. He describes the aim as creating an emotional response on the plate, something more than a simple meal.
Starters include squash ravioli with goat cheese, sunflower seeds and cranberries, and a cod quenelle with lobster bisque and pike roe. Mains range from orecchiette with lamb, kale and kalamata olives to Quebec red deer with roasted cauliflower and wild mushrooms. The seafood soffocato combines mussels, clams, octopus, squid and prawns with cherry tomatoes. A foie gras addition is available on the Angus tenderloin.
The wine list moves from Champagne to Burgundy whites, and Wine Spectator gave the list a 2025 Best of Award of Excellence. Tasting menus come in four or seven services, with food and wine pairings. Desserts stay close to Quebec, with apple tarte tatin served with cider and buckwheat, or pancakes with maple syrup and house-made maple ice cream.
