The story
Fogo de Chão in São Paulo runs a Brazilian steakhouse at Rua Augusta, 2077 in Cerqueira César, and earned a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026. The restaurant is built around the Brazilian steakhouse format, where grilled meat is the centre of the meal.
The kitchen has kept the churrasco tradition since 1979. The founders grew up on a farm in Serra Gaúcha, in Rio Grande do Sul, and learned to cook over open flame there. Picanha, fraldinha and filet mignon appear among the cuts on the house wine pairings, which points to the beef that anchors the grill menu.
Alongside the grilled cuts, the Market Table offers fresh, seasonal dishes. Bar Fogo serves Brazilian-inspired small plates, wines and cocktails, and the wine list has earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence (2014). The restaurant is a good fit for a long lunch or a dinner that starts at the bar.
