The story
Barisdam is a French bistro at Werkenstraat 82 in Zarren, rated 13.5 by Gault&Millau in 2026. It sits in open countryside, in the village of Werken.
Owner and chef Pieter Puype cooks bistronomic dishes, while hostess Virginie leads a front of house that Gault&Millau calls attentive. The guide also notes the cozy room. Michelin lists Barisdam as Recommended for 2026.
The card is small and moves with the seasons. It mixes familiar classics, grandmother's cooking and the occasional dish with an odd name, with something for meat, fish and vegetable eaters. Vegetarian and vegan options are listed. A weekly lunch runs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Wines, beers and non-alcoholic drinks are on offer, and wine pairing is available.
