The story
De Gouden Muts is a French restaurant at Gevaertlaan 64 in Zoerle-Parwijs, Westerlo, rated 14.5 by Gault&Millau in 2026. It also holds a Michelin Recommended listing for the same year.
The restaurant occupies an elegant villa, and chef Rudy Van den Seylberg cooks in plain view of the dining room. Gault&Millau describes his contemporary cuisine as balanced and refined, built on flavorful, modern dishes. The team says seasonal produce and the market's daily offer shape every menu. There is a newly built garden room, and private parking sits at the door.
The tasting menu changes with the season. A spring version opens with North Sea crab salad, celeriac, brioche and mousseline, then moves to asparagus with egg, mimolette and a Maltaise sauce. Later courses include langoustine consommé with garlic and basil, and veal with morels, sweetbread, enoki and thyme jus. Gariguette strawberry with mascarpone and white chocolate closes it. Four courses start at €98, or €150 with aperitif, matched wines, water and coffee.
A three-course market menu follows whatever the suppliers bring that week. It costs €54, or €89 all-in with the wine pairing. It is served every day except Friday evening and Saturday.
