The story
L'Amandier, at Rue de Limalsart 9 in Rixensart, Belgium, is a gastronomic kitchen that Gault&Millau scored 15.5 in 2026. The restaurant serves set menus built around a single chef's cooking, with wine and water pairings offered alongside.
Martin Volkaert took over the family restaurant in 2022. Gault&Millau notes that he lets his creativity run freely, drawing on the region while staying willing to try bold combinations. Menus are served to the whole table, and guests are asked to report any allergy or intolerance before the meal.
The tasting menus open with octopus, raspberry and rosemary, followed by Gambero rosso with summer vegetables and veal with artichokes and cumin. Apricot and hazelnut close the sequence. The evening L'Envol menu adds turbot with tarragon and gherkin, and a garden course, Le jardin de l'Amandier, appears on the longer menus.
The Gault&Millau review describes the decor of this villa as elegant and inviting. The house sits in a green garden and also has two guest rooms, La Glycine and L'Eucalyptus.
