The story
La Maison Thai serves Thai cooking at Grand' Place 2, 4590 Ouffet, in the Belgian village of Ouffet. The restaurant earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026, the guide's mark for good quality, good value cooking, and it is the kind of Thai kitchen that draws diners from across the Condroz region.
Panya Chaiwari leads the kitchen. Some preparations take time to bring out their full flavour, so the restaurant asks guests to allow for slower service than at a typical restaurant. Dishes can be adjusted to suit different palates, whether a guest prefers heat or something gentler.
The tom yam goong is a spicy soup with chili, lemongrass, galangal, coriander, mushrooms and scampi. Seared tuna sashimi arrives with fresh herbs and a touch of chili, and the peanut crusted steak comes with steamed vegetables. Desserts are made in house by the pastry chef, and the sticky date pudding is served with vanilla ice cream, toffee sauce and a peanut crumble.
Gault&Millau praises the decor, which features sculptures in tropical wood, Buddha figures and Thai paintings. The restaurant also keeps a Thai table custom: a meal is eaten with a fork and spoon, and dishes come in small pieces so a knife is not needed.
