The story
Le Julien sits at Prinsenstraat 9 in Aalter (Lotenhulle), where the French kitchen earned one Michelin star in 2026. The restaurant serves modern French cooking in a former banquet hall, with lunch and dinner tasting menus alongside an à la carte selection.
Chef Davy Devlieghere leads the kitchen. The restaurant describes his drive as rooted in his parents' farm, where he first developed a love for good products and flavours. The cooking keeps a familiar base but adds a surprising twist, with respect for the simplicity of the ingredient.
The à la carte includes Black Angus beef tartare with oscietra caviar, European lobster prepared three ways from head to tail, and Wagyu A5 with bordelaise sauce and bone marrow. Dessert ends with a Paris-Brest, with hazelnut and vanilla. Dinner is a 7-course menu or à la carte, and lunch offers 5 or 7 courses. On Friday and Saturday evenings and on public holidays, only the 7-course menu is served.
Hostess Marie-Julie Haeck welcomes guests in the former banquet hall Den Ouwen Prins, which the restaurant moved into after leaving Lovendegem. Gault&Millau awarded it 16 points in 2026. Groups of six or more can book the private dining room, and larger parties are possible on request.
