The story
Côté Préféré at Dorpsstraat 47 in Jabbeke is a French restaurant that earned 14 points from Gault&Millau for 2026. Chef Tim Versyck leads the kitchen, and the menu draws on fresh produce from the North Sea coast and the surrounding polders.
Tim Versyck trained under Geert Van Hecke at De Karmeliet, then worked at Jonkman, where he picked up a taste for local produce from Filip Claeys. The French kitchen is classic at heart, with a playful streak. Menus change with the season, and recent courses included langoustine tartare with kataifi and red curry yoghurt, plus spit-roasted young chicken with a gratin of runner beans.
The dining room looks onto a wine cellar that fills one wall, and from the tables you can watch the kitchen at work. Aperitifs are taken in the cozy bar at the front. In summer, guests eat in the south-facing garden. A first-floor room seats about 40 for private parties and events, for groups of at least 15.
