The story
Jean-Philippe is a modern French restaurant at Bruggestraat 97 in Ingelmunster, West Flanders, where chef Jean-Philippe De Pessemier earned 15 points from Gault&Millau in 2026. The kitchen works with produce chosen by season, with a clear pull toward seafood.
Jean-Philippe De Pessemier trained at Ter Groene Poorte in Bruges, then rose to sous-chef at Boury. He later became a right-hand chef at The Jane in Antwerp. He opened his own restaurant in Ingelmunster on 8 December 2023, returning to the region he calls home. The menu changes with the seasons and the market, and he has said he wants to serve the best of his own flavours from his region.
Guests choose between a five- and six-course dinner, and a three-course lunch is served daily except Sunday lunch. For January to April 2026, the lunch costs €85, the five-course menu €123 and the six-course menu €139, all excluding wine. Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday lunch serve the six-course menu only. Wine pairings and à la carte bottles are both available.
His wife and partner, Sara-Sofia, leads the dining room and guides guests through the wine. Gault&Millau notes surprise amuse-bouches among the early courses. Tables are limited to six guests, and babies, toddlers and dogs are not admitted, which keeps the room quiet.
