The story
L'Epicurien at Rue des Martyrs 15 in Herve, Belgium, is a French restaurant that earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026 for good-quality cooking at reasonable prices. The French cuisine here stays close to tradition, with fresh, varied produce and a few original touches.
Owner Sébastien Brela describes the kitchen as traditional French cooking with a touch of originality. Gault&Millau gave the restaurant 13.5 for 2026 and praised the cooking in its review. The menu changes each month, so the dishes you find will depend on the season.
Recent summer menus included poultry with apricot and rosemary, red tuna marinated in dill and served with pomegranate, and a lentil salad with feta and cucumber for vegetarians. Dessert has ranged from orange cake with rhubarb to roasted nectarines with lavender and vanilla ice cream. Fish and shellfish dishes appear alongside the beef and tartare that regulars come for.
The dining room is air-conditioned and service is at the table. Guests have described the room as well arranged, with an upstairs space that seats groups of up to 50 people. The restaurant also hosts private parties.
