The story
Chez Flo is a modern French restaurant at Quai du Halage 266 in Engis, listed as Michelin Recommended in 2026. Chef Florence Porignon runs it from a stone house that once belonged to her grandparents, on the banks of the Meuse.
Porignon trained at hotel schools in Namur and Lucerne, then built her career mostly in Switzerland. She worked her way up at the Lausanne Palace and spent a year and a half in Joël Robuchon's kitchens in Las Vegas. Back in Lausanne, she became the first woman to lead the palace's starred gastronomic restaurant. At 30 she came home to open her own place.
The menu changes every three weeks and follows the seasons. The summer 2026 card opens with mackerel roasted over flame, crushed tomato and lovage. Skate wing comes grenobloise style with a hazelnut butter fumet, and a thin tart carries girolles, courgette and aubergine. The main course is beef cooked two ways with a light béarnaise and a Robuchon-style purée. Dessert is white chocolate and lavender ganache with apricot sorbet.
The evening menu runs four courses at €70 or five at €85, with a wine selection through the main course for €30 or €38. Gault&Millau scores the kitchen 13.5 for 2026 and describes a contemporary restaurant behind a discreet façade, where precision and emotion meet. The room has since grown larger and brighter, and a terrace has been added.
