The story
Laan 7 is a French-Belgian restaurant at Leopoldlaan 7 in Eeklo, Belgium, and Gault&Millau scored it 12.5 points in its 2026 guide.
Kim Rutsaert builds his cooking on respect for the product and technical precision. Classic French dishes form the base, refined with modern accents, bright acidity and a lighter touch. The menu follows the seasons and relies on local produce.
The starters include kaaskroketten and a rundscarpaccio with truffle mayonnaise. Mains range from an Irish ribeye with béarnaise to fried plaice with stoemp and fresh tartare. For dessert, the crème brûlée comes with passion fruit, and the Coupe Kolonel is made with the Belgian vodka Mary White. The kitchen notes that dishes can change, so the printed menu is a guide rather than a promise.
The restaurant occupies a stylishly renovated villa from the 1970s. The terrace is spacious and cosy, and candles are lit there in the evening. Elien Bottelberghe looks after guests on the floor, aiming for warmth rather than formality.
