The story
Mardaga serves modern cuisine at Stationsstraat 121 in As, inside a four-star hotel with the feel of a family house. Gault&Millau awarded it 12.5 points in 2026, and the Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended for the same year.
Gault&Millau calls Mardaga a charming inn where guests gladly eat classic dishes, ideally outdoors. Pan-fried duck liver is the dish its review singles out. The restaurant presents itself as gastronomic, and the terrace is covered and heated, so a table outside is not limited to summer.
The hotel has stood in As, near Genk, for more than 110 years, beside the Hoge Kempen National Park. A full renovation in 2014 refreshed its eighteen rooms, the restaurant and the bar. The M-Bar has an open fire for a drink before or after dinner. A garden and adjoining woodland are there for a walk, and guests get free private parking.
