The story
Die Weinbank in Ehrenhausen serves Styrian tavern cooking alongside a refined Austrian kitchen at Hauptstraße 44, 8461 Ehrenhausen an der Weinstraße. Gault&Millau gave the restaurant 18.5 points in 2026, and the menu leans on regional produce and a wine list that few other places carry.
Gerhard Fuchs cooks traditional tavern dishes and fine dining with the same care. Most of what reaches the table is made from regional, natural ingredients. Sous chef Stephan Mandl works alongside him. Without a menu, the Wirtshausrallye brings five or more surprise courses.
The Dotterraviolo is the house signature, and reviewers insist on it. Other plates include crispy lamb shoulder with citrus, capon breast and leg, and ricotta ravioli with truffle. Trout "devil rolls" come with beet ponzu, and beef tenderloin is served with morels. Dessert is fluffy quark dumplings with rhubarb. Offal appears where it fits the menu.
Christian Zach pours and pairs the wines, and his suggestions tend to follow the dishes closely. The cellar holds bottles that are hard to find elsewhere. The restaurant also runs a Vinothek and releases its own Weinbankselektion, including a Weißer Burgunder from the Tement winery.
