The story
Grossi Florentino serves Italian food at 80 Bourke Street in Melbourne CBD, and Wine Spectator gave it a Best of Award of Excellence in 2023. The Italian dining style here goes back almost a century.
In 1928, Rinaldo Massoni leased the business and renamed it Café Florentino, introducing an Italian dining style to the room. Six years later he bought the adjoining property, and the larger restaurant gained an upstairs Mural Room decorated with murals by pupils of the artist Napier Waller. The Grossi family has cared for the venue since 1999.
Florentino Dining Room, Café Florentino and the Cellar Bar share the name and the kitchen's Italian roots. The Gambero Rosso awarded the restaurant two forks in 2023. The venue also lists a private room and outdoor seating.
