The story
Aloft is a modern Australian restaurant at Brooke Street Pier, Hobart CBD TAS 7000, and it scored 16 in the Australian Good Food Guide for 2026. The dining room sits on the top floor of the pier, where the menu follows the seasons and the raw character of Tasmania.
The kitchen builds its menu around seasonal produce from small Tasmanian producers, and the menu changes with what is available. Dinner is a chef's menu at $150 per person, with a vegetarian version at $140. A beverage match can be added for $100 per person.
Crispy chilli eggplant is one of the dishes the Good Food Guide singled out, alongside a dessert that changes with the fruit and botanicals in season. Other plates on the sample menu include lamb rib with aromatic black vinegar, sashimi with nam jim jaew and nasturtium, and southern calamari with burnt onion and egg. The dessert on that menu pairs mandarin with white chocolate and buttermilk.
Window seats face one of Hobart's best harbour views, and the main room is open-plan. Bar seats run along the open kitchen, so guests can watch the chefs at work. For a lighter visit, snacks and a glass of wine at the bar offer a way in without the full tasting menu.
