The story
Rafters Restaurant sits at 220 Oakbrook Road in Nether Green, Sheffield, where a 26-seat room serves Modern British tasting menus. It holds 3 AA Rosettes for 2026.
Head Chef Dan Conlon writes the tasting menus around seasonality, locality and sustainability. The aim is to source as much top-quality produce as possible from the British Isles. Guests can choose between the Kitchen Bench Menu, a six course menu and a ten course menu.
The Good Food Guide (2026) describes a fine-dining spin on home-style cooking. Cauliflower cheese is truffled, and Cornish cod arrives Indian-spiced with chip-shop scraps and caviar. Scottish venison is paired with parsnip, blackcurrant and kale. For dessert, Yorkshire rhubarb comes with white chocolate, ginger and sorrel.
The kitchen is open to the dining room. Solid oak tables and the Sheffield cutlery were made by Carrs Sheffield, and the steak knives are handmade by one of the city's last Little Mesters at Portland Works. The wine list is arranged by style rather than region. Small-glass pairings are offered with the tasting menu.
