The story
JÖRO, at Main Road, Wharncliffe Side in Sheffield (S35 0LB), is a tasting menu restaurant with Japanese and Scandinavian influences, and it holds three AA Rosettes for culinary excellence, awarded in 2026. The restaurant occupies Oughtibridge Mill, a former paper mill on the Peak District border, with seven rooms upstairs.
Luke and Stacey French created JÖRO in 2016 and moved it into the mill in December 2024. The cooking draws on Eastern Asian techniques and Nordic produce, and the team runs its own fermentation and foraging programme. Menus are tasting only, and the kitchen works closely with producers across the UK.
The dining room is informal and open plan, with eleven tables close enough to see the kitchen at work. There is no dress code, and guests of all ages are welcome. The signature TWÖ tasting menu runs alongside a shorter ÖNE menu and a Sunday lunch feast, and drinks pairings can be added.
