The story
The Square at Porthleven is a modern British brasserie at 7 Fore Street, a stone's throw from the harbour wall, and The Good Food Guide named it a Local Gem in 2026.
Fish, shellfish, meat and vegetables come from local suppliers, and the kitchen writes the menu around what arrives. The Good Food Guide points to dishes such as warm English asparagus with pea purée and Rosary goat's cheese, or soy- and honey-glazed Primrose Herd pork belly with hog's pudding and champ croquette. Michelin lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026. Ice creams are made in-house, and the flavours follow the seasons.
The airy ground-floor room opens onto a small, partially covered terrace where you can watch the boats come and go. Friendly, well-behaved dogs are welcome inside and out. Children have their own menu, and the shelves carry Cornish drinks, chocolate and fudge. The owners' deli and ice cream shop is close by.
