The story
The Dory Bistro & Gallery is a seafood restaurant at 15 East Shore in Pittenweem, Fife, and the Good Food Guide lists it as Good for 2026. The bistro sits on the harbourside, less than 40 metres from where lobsters, langoustines and crabs are landed.
Lobsters, langoustines and crabs come from the harbour, and fish is brought in from St Monans and Pittenweem. Ruth Robinson's kitchen also cooks wild game from Fife estates and produce from its own garden. The regular menu is joined by a specials board with two to four starters and mains each day. The Good Food Guide singles out the catch of the day, served with seaweed and sorrel beurre blanc.
The walls hold work by Scottish artists, and the maritime theme reflects co-owner Malcolm Cheape, a painter of commercial ships. Paintings, prints, ceramics and jewellery are for sale throughout the room. Susan McGill and Iain Macintosh also appear regularly. One diner called the room relaxed and stylish, with local artists displayed prominently.
