The story
Westwood is a modern British restaurant at New Walk, Beverley, HU17 7AE, East Yorkshire. It holds a Michelin Guide recommendation for 2026 and two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence. The kitchen has served modern British food since 2007, built around locally sourced ingredients.
The menus change through the year, and each one aims to let fresh, local ingredients do most of the work. The restaurant names Bridlington white crab, lobster and Himalayan salt-aged Yorkshire beef among its suppliers. Meats cooked a la plancha have drawn praise from the Michelin Guide, which described the menus as unfussy and recognisable. Richard Jude is head chef, and Matthew Barker, the owner, is chef director.
The restaurant sits in the grounds of Beverley's former Grade II listed Georgian courthouse. Its contemporary interior keeps the period features of the building. In warmer weather, guests can dine outdoors on a spacious terrace. Upstairs, The W Bar offers a separate space, and the restaurant also hosts private dining.
