The story
Boys Hall sits on Boys Hall Road in Willesborough, Ashford, where the kitchen serves seasonal British cooking with a fusion streak. The AA has awarded the restaurant two Rosettes for 2026, a recognition of its Kent-focused menu in a restored 17th century house.
Much of the menu is cooked over flame and coal on an Asado-style grill. The kitchen works with local farmers, butchers and fishmongers, and much of the meat is butchered in-house. A zero-waste approach shapes the weekly set menu, which costs £28 for two courses or £35 for three.
A past summer wine garden supper showed the range: roasted scallop with mirabelle plum and smoked bacon, and barbecued peaches with torched meringue. The dessert menu changes every week with seasonal fruit. On Sundays, the fire-cooked roast comes with Yorkshire pudding, glazed carrots and gravy.
The restaurant has an oak-framed dining room, a large outdoor terrace and cosy bar lounges. The wine cellar sits beneath the house and lists Kentish and international bottles. Michelin has recommended the restaurant for 2026, and the bar mixes seasonal cocktails with local spirits. Breakfast is served until 10:30 and includes Coldblow coffee.
