The story
First sits at Schlossstrasse 2 in Ottikon bei Kemptthal, a contemporary restaurant in Weisslingen that Gault&Millau scored 14 points in 2026. The stately country inn is about eight kilometres from Winterthur, and it also holds a 2026 Michelin Recommended listing.
Chef Kevin Della Rosa leads the kitchen, which Gault&Millau describes as Mediterranean in style and consistently strong for years. Guests come for the cooking as much as for the setting, especially on sunny days when day trippers fill the garden.
A recent reviewer ate a creamy pea risotto with burrata, then seared tuna served with wasabi mashed potato, pak choi and a ponzu mayonnaise. The meal ended with Mutzen, a yeast dough fritter with rhubarb compote and vanilla ice cream.
The garden has a wide view and a famous sunset. The Säntisstube has a glamorous chandelier and looks toward the Säntis, while the Beizen-Stübli offers a tiled stove for a quieter table. The Schüür suits parties and presentations, with a large screen and projector. On Thursdays and Fridays, lunch menus in vegetarian, fish and meat versions run from CHF 24 to CHF 38, including soup or salad.
